Following positive reception to the Pulse Elite in 2024, Sony has announced refreshed PS5 audio products: PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset and Pulse Edge Wireless Headset. Both feature custom studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers with larger drivers than the Elite model, delivering fuller, deeper bass while maintaining precision and clarity.

PlayStation Link and Bluetooth Connectivity

The headsets employ planar magnetic drivers for exceptional sound separation and spatial accuracy, helping players pinpoint directional audio cues like footsteps or weapon reloads in competitive first-person shooters. Both models support PlayStation Link, providing lossless, ultra-low latency audio and the ability to seamlessly switch between PS5 consoles, PlayStation Portal remote player, PC, and Mac, while simultaneously connecting to supported Bluetooth devices.

For voice communication, both headsets feature integrated microphones with AI-enhanced noise rejection to filter out background noise. The headsets include a refreshed form factor with rotating earcups that lay flat for easier portability, and will be available in White and Midnight Black.

Pulse Edge Premium Features

The Pulse Edge offers a premium tier with additional features. Its planar magnetic drivers use double the magnet volume compared to the standard Pulse, delivering richer bass while maintaining precision. It includes active noise cancellation, a detachable boom microphone with a hidden mic option for use when detached, built-in game audio and chat balance control for PS5, an audio/microphone jack, and comes with a carrying case. The standard Pulse includes built-in volume control but lacks these premium additions.

Availability and Pricing

PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset launches in select markets this holiday season, while Pulse Edge launches in early 2027. Sony plans to announce pre-order dates, official launch dates, and pricing details soon.
