Adobe completed its acquisition of Topaz Labs, an AI company specializing in video and image enhancement models. Topaz Labs will continue as a standalone brand, with its technology integrated into Adobe's existing tools and workflows for creative professionals and enterprises.
Topaz Labs has earned trust among filmmakers, photographers, and designers for technology that recovers detail, improves clarity, maintains temporal consistency, and produces authentic-looking results. The company received a 2025 Emmy Award for video technology.
Topaz Labs' award-winning technology is now available in Adobe Firefly and Photoshop to help creators upscale and enhance images and videos while preserving natural detail. Its proprietary Neurostream technology lets professionals process complex AI models on their own devices or via Topaz Labs' cloud option. The integration will soon enable features like restoring archival footage, refining low-light shots, enhancing mobile clips, preparing content for theatrical release, and bringing AI-generated videos to professional quality—all within existing Creative Cloud workflows.
For enterprises, Topaz Labs addresses the challenge of modernizing content at scale. Studios with decades of archived film, broadcasters with legacy game footage libraries, and marketing teams producing global media can transform valuable legacy assets into ready-to-use, high-resolution content.
By integrating Topaz Labs into everyday Creative Cloud workflows, Adobe's global community will spend less time moving between tools and more time on creative refinement. Adobe will optimize the performance of Topaz Labs models while leveraging its enterprise relationships and reach to raise awareness of the technology among creative professionals.
The Topaz Labs brand will remain independent, with its apps and models continuing as standalone products. CEO Eric Yang will join Adobe's Digital Video and Audio team. Both Adobe and Topaz Labs customers can expect the same level of support they currently receive.
Community Reaction
Community reaction was mixed. A Topaz Labs community announcement reassured customers that subscriptions, products and accounts would not change immediately, while a separate thread titled “SAY NO TO ADOBE MERGER!” documented opposition to the deal. Independent coverage also reported that Adobe intended to preserve Topaz as a standalone brand while bringing its enhancement technology into Adobe workflows.
