Shape your slides and videos with Gemini Notebook

Gemini Notebook is giving users a say in how their slides and video overviews take shape. Instead of a single prompt producing a finished file, the tool now proposes topics drawn from your own sources and pauses for your input. Want to change the order or add a summary? You can, before anything is rendered.

Based on user feedback, Gemini Notebook now gives you more creative control from start to finish on two of its popular outputs: Slide Decks and Video Overviews. Instead of jumping from an initial prompt straight to a final output, Notebook can walk you through the creation flow in a quick process based directly on your sources.

How the new flow works

You start in the chat and ask Gemini Notebook to create slides or a video overview. Based on your sources, Notebook suggests topics to include in the artifact. Once you confirm those topics, you can steer the content further and guide the visual style and format.

For more control, you can turn on the new Review toggle. With it enabled, you review the plan in the studio panel before anything renders. Click “Review outline notes” for slides or “Review producer notes” for video. You can then give additional feedback, such as asking for an executive summary at the beginning or swapping the order of a scene. When everything looks right, select “Proceed” to produce the final artifact.

Notebook can also take a first pass. If you already know what you want, specify it in your prompt, and the notebook will go straight to the review flow. If you prefer a quick output, go to the studio panel, click your artifact, and skip the review toggle. Notebook then generates the artifact as usual.

Key Features at a Glance

  • Source-based topic suggestions: Notebook proposes topics for your slides or video from your sources, so the plan starts from your own material.
  • Chat-to-artifact flow: Asking for slides or a video overview in chat triggers a guided process instead of a single-step output.
  • Style and format steering: After you confirm topics, you guide the visual style and format before production.
  • Review toggle: With it on, you check the plan in the studio panel (“Review outline notes” for slides, “Review producer notes” for video) before anything renders.
  • Targeted feedback: You can request changes such as adding an executive summary at the beginning or reordering scenes.
  • Proceed control: Selecting “Proceed” produces the final artifact once the plan is approved.
  • Direct-to-review option: Specifying your needs in the prompt sends Notebook straight into the review flow.
  • Quick-output option: Skipping the review toggle in the studio panel generates the artifact as before.
