The free Edgerunners 2 Update for Cyberpunk 2077 is out now. It adds content inspired by “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2,” the second season of the anime that premiered on Netflix on October 20, along with dual wielding, new customization options, and cross-platform mod support. The update also arrives as Cyberpunk 2077 gains Xbox Play Anywhere support, so one purchase covers both Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC, with saves carrying over between the two.
A Gig That Crosses Paths With the Anime
The update is built around the idea that every merc in Night City has a story, and sometimes those stories collide. The new quest begins as an ordinary job from Wakako, but it leads V to Weak Kingsley, a famous Night City merc and one of the main characters of “Edgerunners 2.” During the mission, V helps Weak and his crew on a risky gig in a new location, Night City Prison.
The quest works as a prequel to the anime's events. Players who run it before watching will have extra context going into Episode 1, and viewers who have already seen the show get a broader look at Weak and his crew. The article notes that it contains no “Edgerunners 2” spoilers.
For fans, the update also adds Weak's full outfit (vest, glasses, coat, pants) and his signature revolver, Coronation. A new radio station, HKGN 102.FM, plays official tracks from both “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” and “Edgerunners 2.”
Dual Wielding Changes the Combat
The biggest gameplay addition is dual wielding, which lets V carry a pistol or revolver in each hand. The developers describe it as a new playstyle and a fresh way to approach combat, and one of the most significant additions to the game's combat since Update 2.0 introduced throwing knives.
Customization and Modding
Glamdocs are new vendors who change the appearance of cyberware, offering 40 styles in different colors. Players can visit one or all of five locations across Night City. The update also adds 20 new hairstyles and several clothing sets.
Cross-platform mod support comes through mod.io integration. A new Mods panel lets players browse and install supported community-created content directly in the game. The developers say they expect the selection to grow as more mods become available and receive support over time.
Exploration and Quality-of-Life Changes
Completionists have new targets, including 12 minor arcana tarot cards to find. Night City Tours offer a closer look at the city's history, narrated by its late founder, Richard Night. Fun facts, quotes, and insights are also scattered across landmarks.
Several changes make the game easier to manage. V's item stash now has filters for finding gear, and each V has a separate save library. Photo Mode adds new dual-wielding poses and frames inspired by Cyberpunk TCG for creating custom card art.
