Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 adds three new maps

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 is almost here, bringing fresh battlegrounds to Multiplayer, DMZ and Warzone. Some maps are rugged and snowy, others sprawl around tanks and embassies, and a secret DMZ facility is waiting. The Battle Pass has changed too, and it may surprise lapsed players.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 goes live on November 6 with new maps, modes, events and rewards across Multiplayer and DMZ. The update also brings new weapons and attachments, Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints, DMZ Survival Kits, and a simpler Battle Pass that helps players who fall behind catch up.

New Multiplayer maps and modes

Three new maps arrive at Season 1 launch. Backstab is a war-torn map where abandoned tanks litter the landscape and drone ordinance lines the shelves of a deserted dwelling, and players must brave inclement weather. Canyon is an all-new map where fights unfold amid towering rock walls, and players can try their luck along the River near the Convoy Ambush or take the Cliff Path for its winding pathways. The reimagined Shoot House drops players into the rugged terrain of North Korea during a snowfall.

Two modes are also part of the launch. Grind returns as a fan favorite: players eliminate opponents, recover their dog tags, and take them to the Bank to score for their team. Drop Zone also returns, with teams fighting to hold a single rotating objective while periodic Killstreak packages airdrop over the Drop Zone.

Additional maps and a new mode arrive at the Mid-Season update. Ministry puts the battle around an embassy during a diplomatic summit, with fighting in and around the building. Overflow is centered on a factory and its surrounding farmland. The new mode Counter Attack asks players to detonate bombs at the enemy Comm Station while protecting their own from attack.

DMZ's new X01 weapon facility

A previously undiscovered weapons facility, codenamed X01, has recently been seized by enemy forces. Its maze of tunnels and shifting hazards calls for careful planning, specialized equipment, and squad coordination. The facility also begins to close off extraction points as players work through it, so they must complete the required steps to escape. Players can expect new and powerful equipment, multiple pages of new DMZ Orders to uncover on deployment, Threat Briefing missions to take down DMZ's biggest Boss threats from Commanders, and Resupply Runs.

Warzone maps

Call of Duty: Warzone adds two new maps in Season 1, Hajin and Zodiac, along with additional game modes and gameplay features. More intel, including a full roadmap for everything coming to Warzone in Season 1, will arrive soon.

General content updates

The Season 1 Battle Pass adds the Cronen Osprey Assault Rifle and the CSG-35 SMG. The Cronen Osprey combines speed with moderate power, making it quick and reliable on the frontlines. The CSG-35 excels at putting down enemies fast at close ranges and features the highest fire rate in its class.

The Battle Pass includes 100+ pieces of unlockable content and a new catch-up system that guarantees 50+ rewards for players who purchase it. Players who fall behind in the premium Battle Pass are automatically caught up to the reward matching the current day of the season, up to day 50. Navigation is also simpler: players log in to collect rewards and keep playing to unlock a linear 100-tier track filled with additional Operator Skins, Weapon Blueprints, Finishing Moves, and more.
