Goodbye, one-size DPI

Corsair mice cut aiming time up to 33%

Corsair is betting that the single DPI value on your gaming mouse is holding your aim back. Its new SABRE v3 PRO series, built with Aimlabs, claims to map each player's directional quirks and tune sensitivity to match, saved into the mouse itself. Whether the science holds up in your hands is the real question.

Corsair has announced the SABRE v3 PRO PureVector Wireless Gaming Mouse series, six models built around PureVector, a Corsair-exclusive technology codeveloped with aim training platform Aimlabs. Corsair says PureVector is designed to significantly increase aiming speed and overall accuracy through personalized directional sensitivity. The pitch starts with a premise about DPI: one static value is an inherently flawed way to play, because every player's aim is unique and has directional biases from natural biomechanical variations or musculoskeletal differences. Swiping left uses different mechanics than pushing right or pulling the mouse down, so Corsair argues each direction deserves its own DPI.

PureVector measures those differences through a calibration sequence in Aimlabs, then tunes mouse sensitivity by direction to correct weaknesses and accentuate strengths. Corsair says the settings are powered by statistically significant data sets and are created with no manual adjustment needed. The personalized profile saves directly to the mouse's firmware, so it can be used in any game or task without a background app.

Corsair breaks an in-game shot into three stages: detecting and deciding on a target with your eyes, aiming and correction (aim speed), and the physical mouse click. PureVector targets the longest of these, aiming and correction. Testing showed up to an 81ms, or 33%, reduction in that phase. Corsair argues this is a more impactful part of total aiming performance than click latency, which is how quickly and accurately a player gets on target before the click.

Aimlabs founder and CEO Wayne Mackey, PhD, said: “Billions of training sessions from more than 50 million Aimlabs players reveal a distinct directional aiming signature, distinctive to how each player plays.” He added that PureVector “translates that science into personalized directional sensitivity tuned to the user, taking the guesswork out of finding your ideal settings or spending hours searching online to try to find improvements.”

    The SABRE v3 PRO Lineup

The series introduces six models across three material options, each offered in a Symmetric shape or a sculpted right-handed Ergonomic shape. Every model pairs PureVector with a Nordic 54-series MCU that powers wired or wireless 8,000Hz hyper-polling at 0.25ms average click latency. The series also adds the new CORSAIR MARKSMAN X 42K sensor, which Corsair rates at 42,000 DPI, 800 IPS and 70g acceleration for pinpoint tracking. The switches are upgraded from the SABRE v2 series to near-zero lag CORSAIR optical switches, paired with an optical scroll wheel encoder.

ULTRALIGHT and ULTRALIGHT ERGO: The ULTRALIGHT builds on the SABRE v2 PRO with a strengthened structure and twice the battery life while adding just one gram. It is a Symmetric ABS ultralight at 37g. The new ULTRALIGHT ERGO brings the same technology to a sculpted, right-handed design at 41g. Battery life is up to 140 hours at 1,000Hz polling or up to 25 hours at 8,000Hz, with 2.4GHz wireless and wired USB-C connectivity supporting up to 8,000Hz in either mode. Colors are black or white.

MG and MG ERGO: A magnesium alloy exoskeleton provides lasting rigidity and a cool feel for extended play. The Symmetric model weighs 49g and the right-handed ERGO weighs 55g. Battery life is up to 200 hours at 1,000Hz polling, or up to 31 hours at 8,000Hz, and up to 200 hours with Bluetooth. Connectivity includes 2.4GHz wireless, wired USB-C with up to 8,000Hz polling, and Bluetooth 6.0. Colors are black or white.

CF and CF ERGO: At the top of the series, a carbon fiber unibody shell combines strength and rigidity with low weight. The Symmetric model weighs 48g and the right-handed ERGO weighs 54g. Both CF models include a carry case and come in a matte carbon fiber finish. Battery life matches the MG models: up to 200 hours at 1,000Hz, up to 31 hours at 8,000Hz, and up to 200 hours using Bluetooth. Connectivity is the same as the MG models, including Bluetooth 6.0.
