Xbox Celebrates 25 Years with Tokyo Game Show 2026 Showcase

As Xbox marks 25 years of play, the company is commemorating over 20 years of presence in Japan with a special broadcast, show floor presence, and Xbox FanFest during Tokyo Game Show 2026.

Creativity from Japan and broader Asia has shaped Xbox over two decades. The number of developers and publishing partners across Japan continues to grow, reflecting the region's importance to the platform. Xbox highlighted its commitment to working with studios pushing genres forward and the players and creators building alongside the platform through every milestone.

The Broadcast

The Xbox Tokyo Game Show 2026 Broadcast will air Thursday, September 17 at 7:00pm JST (3am Pacific / 6am Eastern / 11am UK) on official Xbox channels. Hosted by Misuzu Araki, the broadcast will feature an exciting lineup of games coming to the platform this year, including TGS-exclusive content and new gameplay built specifically for the stage.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be available with partner Happinet, allowing fans to experience the game's Multiplayer ahead of its global launch on October 23, 2026. Call of Duty will also be featured at Xbox FanFest Tokyo in Hall 6, 06-N4.

Xbox FanFest Japan takes place September 17, featuring a watch party of the Tokyo Game Show broadcast with special guests Misuzu Araki and Larry Hyrb. A familiar black cat—considered good luck in Japan and a recurring Xbox TGS mascot—returns this year. The 2026 design features the cat as a solitary silhouette striding across an iconic Tokyo crossing beneath a green skyline, marking each step of Xbox's 25-year journey. Fans will soon be able to help name the cat; details on voting will be announced on Xbox social channels.
