The Mayhem Collection DLC puts you in control of two of DC's most iconic villains, The Joker and Harley Quinn, contrasting with the main game's focus on Batman and his crimefighting allies.
Batman: The Animated Series Influence
The expansion draws heavily from “Batman: The Animated Series,” serving as a love letter to the landmark series created by Bruce Timm and Paul Dini, where Harley Quinn was first introduced. Many of the developers count the series as a personal favorite. Fans will find numerous references throughout the expansion, including cutscenes presented in a 4:3 aspect ratio mirroring the original television format. The expansion also features references to a wide range of other Batman shows, films, games, and comic book stories.
One especially meaningful Easter egg is a shop in Gotham City called “Sorkin's Gems,” a tribute to Arleen Sorkin, the original voice actor for Harley Quinn, who passed away in 2023. Harley would not be the character fans know today without Sorkin's performance, which brought warmth, humor, and unmistakable energy to the role.
Harley Quinn's Origin Story
The new story mission depicts Harley's origin, beginning as Dr. Harleen Quinzel and meeting The Joker for the first time before her transformation into the villain fans recognize. The campaign shows the Arkham Asylum interior, including a “typical day in the life” section before chaos erupts as Harley and The Joker break out and throw an elaborate going-away party complete with a festive sing-along.
After escaping Arkham Asylum, The Joker and Harley establish a secret hideout beneath the Funhouse on Amusement Mile. Players can expand and customize the space with multiple areas available to decorate and new Joker and Harley-themed customizer props.
Mayhem Mode
Mayhem Mode sends players on repeatable, time-limited runs across a locked-down version of Gotham City's North Island. Cause chaos by robbing shops, smashing ATMs, painting graffiti, stealing vehicles, fighting A.R.G.U.S. agents and Task Force X, and collecting studs during each run. These studs are spent in the hideout to purchase permanent upgrades, 30 new outfits for The Joker and Harley, customizer props, and more.
The DLC introduces Henchmaster, a character who first appeared in Batman: The Joker War Zone #1. The Joker and Harley can rescue Arkham inmates while in Gotham City and have Henchmaster train them, allowing you to assign them to a customizable crew that can be summoned to fight alongside the protagonists.
Gameplay Differences
Playing as Super-Villains brings distinct gameplay differences from the main campaign. The Joker and Harley have access to familiar abilities from the original playable characters, but with greater emphasis on ranged combat through all-new gadgets. They're fast and frenetic, excelling at controlling groups of enemies. Both can move freely while using their ranged-based gadgets, providing a run-and-gun combat style suited for the fast-paced Mayhem Mode's constant movement demands.
The Mayhem Collection celebrates Gotham City's Super-Villains with a fresh, playful approach deeply rooted in Batman history. TT Games elements ensure The Joker and Harley Quinn's story is full of humor and fan-focused detail. From Arkham Asylum to Amusement Mile, gadget-focused combat, and villain-themed LEGO builds, the expansion lets fans create a villainous legacy of their own.
