Tomas Sala, solo developer of Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles, has released a major update alongside two new DLCs: Verne Bannerless and Medieval Houses. The update brings the Xbox console version in line with the PC development version and represents the game's biggest update since its 2024 release.
New Features and Gameplay Additions
Upgradable Surveyors and the Behemoth
The update introduces upgradable surveyors, including a new unit called the Behemoth—an enormous surveyor equipped with heavy guns and cannons.
Curved Walls and Fortress Building
Players can now construct curved walls with no restrictions on type, length, or angle, allowing for more dynamic settlement designs with flexible, controllable aesthetics.
Expanded Naval Gameplay
Any ship on an owned trade route can now be selected and sailed. The update also improves water shaders and wave graphics. Note that sinking a ship will remove its captain, so players should be cautious about which vessels they commandeer.
Overhauled Combat Systems
Wars and combat have been thoroughly revamped. Enemy forces are now more versatile—they can attack, rush back to defend settlements, patrol ships engage settlements or join defensive efforts, and fortresses can blockade trade routes. The update adds new formations, allowing players to command escorts to either focus on targets near the cursor or select their own targets in a loose formation.
Arbology Towers and Environmental Restoration
Arbology towers can now be planted to spawn trees and add vegetation to settlements. According to the game's lore, natural elements are returning to the Ursee after devastation from the War of the Tree, though some growth appears guarded by Remnant freebooter forces.
DLC Content
The Medieval Houses DLC adds six timber-clad houses for settlement decoration, offering a high fantasy aesthetic. The Verne Bannerless DLC includes three aggressive units—the Bannerless Corsair warbird, Verne Missile ship, and Piranha Fast airship—designed for players pursuing conquest strategies.
