Team Peak is a collaboration between two studios: Aggro Crab, based in Seattle, Washington and known for Another Crab's Treasure and Going Under, and Landfall, based in Stockholm, Sweden and known for Content Warning, Haste, Totally Accurate Battle Simulator, Stick Fight: The Game, and more. The two studios met at a game developer conference in 2022 and became friends. After the success of Another Crab's Treasure and Content Warning, they decided a small project together could be fun.
From a game jam to a full game
The project began as a one-month game jam in Seoul, South Korea, in February 2025. Three Aggro Crab developers and four Landfall developers locked themselves in a rented apartment, fueled by Korean BBQ and coffee. A game jam is a timed event where individuals or teams create a game from scratch within a strict deadline, often following a secret or shared theme. The theme was first discussed by the developers while sitting in a hot tub in Sweden, a couple of months before the jam.
The jam produced Peak, a co-op climbing game where the slightest mistake can spell your doom. You play solo or as a group of lost nature scouts, and your only hope of rescue from a mysterious island is to scale the mountain at its center. The key is to stick together, help each other out, and find the best way to the top before hunger, hazards, or the fog gets you.
After the jam, the teams returned to their home countries. Landfall finished Haste, while Aggro Crab worked on Peak and other projects. The teams reunited in Sweden in June to finish the game together and to celebrate the Swedish tradition of Midsummer.
Friendship and crossplay
Friendship drives both the game's development and its gameplay. One of the game's core rules is “Never abandon a friend in need.” To reflect that, the PS5 launch includes crossplay, so you can climb with up to three friends no matter what platform they use.
Climbing and survival
The mountain takes no prisoners. You climb through four biomes on your way to the Peak, and each has its own life-threatening obstacles. You need to scavenge for questionable food to survive and manage your injuries carefully, because every setback limits your stamina and makes the climb harder.
The hazards vary by biome and include tornadoes, poison clouds, birds, and zombies. If those sound intimidating, you can customize your run to make it easier or harder, depending on what your scout troop wants.
What PS5 players get
The PlayStation 5 version includes all content updates, biomes, and new items the game has received since its initial launch. It also includes the ability to physically kick your friends in custom runs, for players who want to be evil.
