Dune: Awakening is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Game Pass. The console launch brings a substantial update that includes a full single-player mode, story conclusion, and numerous gameplay improvements made over the past year since the game's original PC release.
Dune: Awakening is an open-world survival game set on Arrakis, the desert planet central to the Dune universe. Players explore the deserts, gather resources, craft equipment, build bases, and develop characters while uncovering the mystery of the missing Fremen.
Single-Player Mode
The Xbox launch introduces a complete single-player experience with three difficulty presets or fully customizable gameplay settings. In single-player, players can control sandstorms, harvesting and XP multipliers, building piece limits, item durability, and more. On rented private servers, available customization depends on the provider.
Story Completion and New Rewards
The Great Convention Part III concludes Book One, allowing the entire story to be played from beginning to end in one run. Every existing story mission now grants new rewards including character swatches, weapon and armor variants, and placeable decorations such as the Maw of the Worm Wall Relief and the Ascendant Throne of the Reverend Mother.
Combat and Gameplay Improvements
Combat has been substantially reworked. The parry window has been increased, NPC animations improved, and enemy stamina rebalanced. Heavy attacks now match slow blade attack damage, and enemy AI has been enhanced. Dashing now allows passing through enemies. Two new weapons—Dual Blades and Pyrocket—have been added, and the Rapier has been completely reworked into a parrying weapon.
PvE Focus
Every aspect of the game can now be played entirely in PvE. Players can avoid PvP entirely without losing content, gameplay mechanics, or rewards.
Quality-of-Life Improvements
Several improvements have reduced progression loss that was present at launch. Late-game items now require fewer rare materials, specifically to reach solo and single-player players. Augment crafting uses a bell curve, making good rolls more frequent.
Character and Progression Systems
Characters are now central to the experience, with backed-up bases and vehicles traveling with players across worlds. Full character re-customization is available in Arrakeen and Harko Village, along with new hairstyles, tattoos, and School of the Imperium armor sets. Vehicles, containers, and placeables can be renamed.
Specializations is a new progression system allowing players to invest points in crafting, gathering, exploration, combat, and sabotage, unlocking traits that boost damage, durability, inventory space, mission rewards, and technologies like Augmentation.
Endgame Content
The Landsraad, the faction vs. faction endgame, has been completely rebuilt as a mission-driven framework working equally well for multiplayer PvE and single-player. Players progress through twenty ranks from outsider to Atreides Envoy or Harkonnen Enforcer, unlocking powerful rewards.
Augmentations—powerful modifiers for unique Tier 6 weapons and armor—can be crafted using resources earned through Landsraad missions. Schematics are found in six new Imperial Testing Stations.
Expanded World
Arrakis has been expanded with seven new mission locations, six Imperial Testing Stations, additional contracts, and dynamic encounters.
Platform Details and Graphics
Dune: Awakening features console-tailored UI and controls on Xbox Series X|S and the Microsoft Store. Two graphics modes are available: Performance (60fps, Dynamic 4K) and Quality (30fps, Dynamic 4K). Xbox Series X renders at higher native resolution in both modes with enhanced visuals. The game supports Play Anywhere with shared progression, Cloud Gaming, and Xbox Game Pass.

Future Updates
The Polar Cap, a new survival map with an icy biome, arrives later this year as a free update, featuring new survival mechanics, resources, loot, craftables, and a standalone storyline. Full cross-play is coming after the console launch. Additional Dune film tie-in cosmetics are planned alongside the third installment of the film series.
The developers have also addressed duping and exploit issues and committed to ongoing security improvements.
