Fortell Games debuts on Xbox with Warshift 2: Machines of Madness, a hybrid strategy-action game built single-handedly by Ukrainian developer Cyril Megem. Players seamlessly switch between RTS tactical planning and third-person combat, commanding forces directly from the battlefield. Alexey Menshikov, CEO of Fortell Games, announced the publisher's debut on the Xbox family of devices with Warshift 2: Machines of Madness. The game supports Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing players to share progress and achievements across consoles, PC, and ROG Xbox Ally devices, with 4K60 FPS targeting on Xbox Series X.

Developed entirely by solo developer Cyril Megem—who serves as game designer, artist, and programmer—the strategy-action hybrid is proudly made in Ukraine. The game features hundreds of hours of gameplay across seven modes, with seamless switching between RTS (Tactical mode) and TPS (Action mode).

This game is my attempt to create the kind of strategy game where the commander is not separated from the battlefield. You can plan a large-scale operation, organize your forces and then fight directly beside them when the situation becomes critical.

    Strategy Tips Beyond the Tutorials

    Capture Energy Nodes

Securing Energy Nodes and building networks is essential. Expanding your territory grants access to more resources and production capacity while denying them to enemies.

    Command Units in Action Mode

Create unit groups in Strategy mode, then direct them from within third-person Action mode. This allows you to fight alongside your army while retaining tactical control.

    Reposition the Ark

Relocate your homebase to one of four designated landing zones. While landed, the Ark can produce any unit type and construct buildings. While airborne, it's limited to aircraft production but can still launch orbital strikes. Use its mobility to position it above enemy forces and deliver devastating fire support.

Devastate Enemy Formations with Orbital Strikes

Time orbital strikes against concentrated enemy forces to eliminate entire formations and halt enemy momentum.

    Make Use of Aircraft

Aircraft provide fast mobility and rapid redeployment across the battlefield. Hero flight mode enables faster navigation to distant areas.

    Automate Your Factories

Enable AI control for factories to automatically produce units and send them into battle, freeing you for broader strategic decisions or personal combat.

    Equip an Automated Support System

Outfit your hero with an automated support turret or drone that independently attacks enemies, intercepts missiles, or provides other assistance.

    Evolve Your Alien Forces

Play as the Aliens and use Evolution to transform units into more powerful versions during battle. Protect evolving cocoons, then deploy upgraded forces for your next attack.

    Build Superunits

Battleships and Aircraft Carriers project overwhelming power on critical sections of the front, breaking fortified positions and shifting battle momentum.

    Return Aircraft to the Carrier

Dock damaged squadrons at the Aircraft Carrier for repairs and replacement of lost planes.

    Customize Enemy Tactics

In Skirmish mode, adjust enemy behavior from defensive to extremely aggressive, determining whether opponents build large armies before attacking or pressure you with continuous waves.

    Add Support Avatars

Skirmish mode allows you to add one or more AI-controlled Support Avatars to either team, dramatically shifting battle flow and allowing you to balance difficulty with uneven avatar counts.

    Friend Caio

Life is a cycle of observing, learning, and taking action.
