ASUS has unveiled the UGen300, a pocketable USB AI accelerator built to deliver dedicated on-device inference for both classic and generative AI workloads. The company positions the device as its first USB AI product, with an M.2 form factor offered alongside the USB unit.
Design and core specifications
The UGen300 measures 105 x 50 x 18 mm and centers on a Hailo-10H AI processor that provides 40 AI TOPS of processing power. The unit includes 8 GB of LPDDR4 dedicated memory and connects via a USB-C interface, drawing approximately 2.5 watts during typical operation. ASUS describes the accelerator as plug-and-play across Windows, Linux, and Android platforms and notes out-of-the-box support for major AI frameworks including TensorFlow, PyTorch, and ONNX.

Performance and target use cases
ASUS frames the UGen300 as an edge-focused solution optimized for generative AI inference and vision-language tasks. The product is intended to augment host CPUs and NPUs, enabling on-device capabilities such as text generation, video summarization, event triggering, voice-to-action, and real-time perception without reliance on cloud services. The dedicated memory architecture is highlighted as a means to avoid system-memory contention and maintain steady throughput for complex AI pipelines.
Software ecosystem and compatibility
The device uses a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C interface and is described as platform-agnostic to support consumer and industrial deployments. ASUS plans a companion UGen Utility that will offer quick validation via more than 100 pre-trained models. The company also points to the Hailo Developer Community for tutorials, reference designs, and shared developer resources.
Availability notes
ASUS states that a driver for Windows is expected to be available in mid-May 2026. Android support is currently available to B2B customers, with broader Android availability planned for future releases. The announcement includes a quote from Hailo’s Chief Revenue Officer Max Glover on the intent to broaden on-device AI access through this form factor.
