Despite trimmed specs, Ryzen Z2 Extreme nearly matches Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 in new Geekbench 6 tests
After receiving a review focused on gaming and graphics-intensive benchmarks, the AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme was found in a series of new tests in the Geekbench 6 database, showcasing more of the CPU and GPU's raw power. As seen in the analysis, the component performs well and is capable of delivering competitive performance with the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 despite having specifications that have been cut.
According to the results, which were also collected from the MSI Claw A8 portable, the Z2 Extreme scores 2,748 points in single-core and 12,182 points in multi-core. In comparison, the HX 370 averages 2,596 points in single-core and 13,284 points in multi-core.
The single-core advantage and the minimal difference of 9% when the CPU is fully utilized reinforce the balanced design of the chip for portable consoles, especially considering that the Z2 Extreme has 4 fewer cores and a lower maximum clock speed of 5.0 GHz.
We should see more results, as well as more complete reviews, covering a wide variety of games, in the coming days as portable consoles equipped with Ryzen Z2 Extreme (and the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme variant) hit stores in the second half of 2025. In addition to the MSI Claw A8, the ASUS ROG Ally X and the Lenovo Legion Go 2 are some of the confirmed devices with the new feature.
