Gorgon Point: AMD prepares to launch new APUs in 2026, says rumor
AMD is preparing to launch a new line of APU-type processors. As reported by Tom's Hardware, these new components should be called Gorgon Point and should replace the current Strix Point. The launch, in turn, is speculated for the year 2026.
In general, the information about the products appeared in some slides on the Naver Cafe channel. In this sense, the rumors claim that these chips will be launched with more timid upgrades compared to the current ones. For example, they should stick with the Zen 5/5c CPU cores.
Not only that, but AMD's new APUs will be launched with an RDNA 3.5 integrated card, as well as the implementation of an NPU based on XDNA 2. The new Gorgon Points, meanwhile, should be equipped in premium segment devices, while traditional models will continue with Hawk Points.
The leak, finally, shows different details from what was expected, since the Gorgon Point (or Strix Point Refresh) could be launched for conventional models, while premium models would be equipped with chips from a line called Medusa Point.
These Medusa line processors, by the way, should be the successors to AMD's Strix Halo models. In this case, there is a possibility that these models will come with the brand's latest technologies, such as Zen 6 and RDNA 4 architecture. However, it is not yet known when they will be launched on the market.
