Google is rolling out Gemini 4 Argon inside Google Antigravity, its agent-first development app. Internally, over 100K Alphabet users rely on Argon in Antigravity each month, and over four weeks the company saw a 35% increase in agentic code alongside a 30% decrease in post-submit rollbacks.
For developers, the internal results show how the model handles real engineering work: legacy migrations, backlog cleanup, and security audits, not just code generation.
Key Features at a Glance
- Access tiers: Available in the Antigravity desktop app and Antigravity CLI for Google AI Ultra subscribers, and via the API in Gemini platform for businesses. Eligible Gemini Enterprise subscriptions also get it within Antigravity.
- Backlog triage: Agents closed 97 stale or duplicate bugs out of 134 open reports in under 3 hours (a 72.4% queue reduction), with documented commit proof, and sorted the remaining 37 by owner.
- Legacy migration: A team used a custom skill to have Argon rewrite Fortran research code into modern Rust, delivering a 1.8x performance boost and memory safety.
- Security audits: Argon traced permissions at runtime rather than reading the code diff, and found four critical security bugs in access-control changes. Two earlier frontier models had audited the same code and concluded there were zero security holes.
- Non-engineering work: A finance lead ran end-to-end reconciliations, budget tracking, and contract extraction across 80 workflows. Over seven business days, 15.5 hours of human direction produced about 335 human-equivalent hours of validated output.
- Customization: Plugins, skills, and MCP integrations connect the agent to specialized data sources and workflows.
Availability
Argon is rolling out starting today in the Antigravity desktop app and CLI, and via the API in Gemini platform; users should update to the latest version of Antigravity to try it.
