In August, WhatsApp announced a feature that allows users to send images in high quality through the application, which stands as the most widely used app in Brazil

This feature is activated through a button in the content sending interface. In the post unveiling this update, Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, revealed that the messaging app will also receive the same capability for high-definition (HD) videos in the future.
Meta explained that the default quality for sharing photos will remain lower. For recipients of the image, there will be an option to choose between downloading the low-resolution or high-resolution version. This choice will prove valuable in situations where the connection is weak.
WhatsApp's New Feature
The new WhatsApp feature will be rolled out globally next week, as announced by Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta. With this enhancement, users will no longer need to resort to workarounds to send high-quality images.
One of the primary methods for sharing HD photos on WhatsApp was to send them using the “Document” button. This function prevented the loss of image quality.
What to Expect from WhatsApp in the Future
In recent weeks, WhatsApp Beta has released several new features. Here is a list of tools currently being tested in the messaging app, which may soon become available to all users
WhatsApp Web Lock Screen
Recently, the lock screen started appearing for WhatsApp Beta members. This feature will be available only in the web version of the app. It aims to provide more privacy for those who share a computer or work in a busy environment.
Multiple Phone Numbers on One Device
WhatsApp has introduced a feature in beta for Android that enables the use of multiple phone numbers within the same app. This “multiple accounts” feature, reminiscent of Instagram's account switching, allows users to use more than one WhatsApp number on a single device without needing WhatsApp Business or app cloning.
Scheduled Group Calls on WhatsApp
In an effort to compete with platforms like Teams, Zoom, and Discord, WhatsApp is testing the ability to schedule video calls within the app. This feature will allow users to set up meetings or casual gatherings through the application.
Passkey Support on WhatsApp
In the near future, the messaging app might eliminate the need for passwords to authenticate users. WhatsApp Beta for Android is testing the use of passkeys. With passkeys, users won't need to create a password; they can simply use a biometric identification method like facial or fingerprint recognition.
