AI company launches tool capable of cloning user's voice in up to 30 languages
Users can use the tool to transform written content into audio or clone their own voice or that of others by providing a few speech samples
ElevenLabs, a US-based technology company, has developed an artificial intelligence platform capable of cloning a person's voice in 30 different languages. The platform employs a model called Multilingual v2, which can automatically detect the language of the text and generate a voice with emotional nuances.
Users can use the tool to transform written content into audio or clone their own voice or that of others by providing a few speech samples. The developer claims that its technology can assist content creators in producing high-quality audio in various languages without the need for recording studios or professional voice actors.
According to reports, the company offers two options for voice cloning. The first model is designed for converting text to speech, while the second, named “VoiceLab,” is developed to simulate specific voices, such as voice actors or famous individuals, using artificial intelligence.
The platform raises ethical and moral questions about the potential misuse of voice cloning by malicious actors who might imitate voices of public figures to promote hate speech and misinformation. The company has implemented security measures to prevent such abuse, including limiting voice cloning to paid accounts and AI-based detection.
“With this release, we are one step closer to making that dream a reality and making high-quality, human-like AI voices available in every dialect. Our text-to-speech generation tools help level the playing field and bring high-quality spoken audio capabilities to all creators out there”
